Salmon Fishing – Russia

The Kola Peninsula quite simply offers the most prolific Atlantic Salmon fishing in the World!

From huge runs of Spring Salmon on the Varzuga, to enormous fish on the Yokanga, my aim is to give you an insight of what you can reasonably expect on your trip.

The Varzuga

Probably the most prolific river on the Kola with a ten year average of 36 fish per rod per week. The Varzuga together with its’ tributaries, The Kitsa and Pana, offers miles of wonderful & varied fly water. Roxtons have been the main operator since 1992 and run four camps situated on the best stretches of the river¬†and occupying these¬†when the spring run is at its’ peak.

Availability is always limited due to rods returning year after year. However, by getting in touch with me and registering your interest, I can advise you of current availabilty or book a rod prior to general release.

The Yokanga

While the Varzuga will offer quantity, it is the size of fish on the Yokanga that is the main allure.

I am convinced that fish of over 65lbs run this river every year. Being a large powerful river, it might not be best suited to the beginner, but instead to those with a degree of experience.

Availability is again limited, however it is a little easier to get on than Varzuga, and with different programmes through the season, it can be surprisingly affordable!
